Newcastle West Golf Club – General Manager Vacancy
A beautifully situated Irish parkland course, Newcastle West Golf Club in Ardagh, County Limerick, is set amidst mature woodland. Founded in 1938, the course features free-draining soil and top-quality playing surface. Set in 160 acres of untouched countryside, this Arthur Spring-designed golf course is littered with hazards such as lakes, bunkers, streams, and trees. Newcastle West Golf Club facilities include a driving range, pro shop, chipping green, two practice putting greens and full catering facilities at the Stables Restaurant.
The club is now seeking to appoint a full time General Manager, to provide a top quality service to members and visitors and drive the future development of the club.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the General Manager will include :
- To have executive responsibility for all aspects of the administration of the Club and its premises.
- To action decisions from the Management Council in a timely, professional manner to ensure delivery of the club’s key objectives.
- To achieve high performance from all staff by utilising effective leadership and management techniques.
- Initiate and deliver activities to attract new members and to increase the number of visitors, green fees, societies in line with the Club Business Plan.
- Liaise with the Clubhouse Caterer to ensure that the bar and catering offer good quality customers service meeting member and visitor expectations.
- Work closely with the Club Professional and his / her staff to maximise the benefits of his/her services to members and visitors.
- To provide good communication to the club’s members, visitors and other key stakeholders.
- To be the first point of contact for members and visitors and to promote the Club externally and internally to enhance the reputation of the Club.
- To oversee the Club’s financial reporting and controls in conjunction with the Club’s Treasurer and Auditors.
The person
Suitable candidates should possess the following :
- A proven track record of operations management, ideally within the golf industry
- Familiarity with golf course management and general club administration
- Strong IT and problem solving skills.
- A good knowledge of financial systems, budgetary controls etc.
- A good knowledge of marketing strategies and social media outlets
- Good interpersonal, communication and people management skills
- A passion for the game of golf
