About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and hands-on Golf Operations Manager to oversee the daily running of our clubhouse at a well-established golf course in Co. Kerry. This is a key role focused on delivering a consistent and high-quality experience for members and visitors, with particular attention to American tourists visiting nearby Killarney.
The successful candidate will lead clubhouse operations, manage the food and beverage offering, support membership engagement, and play an active role in driving revenue and ensuring operational efficiency. This is a practical, sleeves-rolled-up role requiring strong leadership and business acumen, reporting directly to the business manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and execute the day-to-day operations of the clubhouse, including facilities, staff, and service delivery.
- Lead and coordinate front-of-house, bar, and food operations to a high standard.
- Manage membership administration, renewals, communications, and general engagement.
- Oversee green fee bookings, tee sheets, and ensure a smooth visitor experience.
- Ensure clubhouse staffing is scheduled efficiently and customer service is consistently excellent.
- Work closely with the Greenskeeper and business manager to coordinate activities and events.
Monitor performance across key revenue areas- food, bar, green fees, retail
- to help drive profitability.
- Identify and implement improvements to enhance service, efficiency, and profitability.
- Assist in marketing initiatives, including social media and promotions targeting local and tourist markets.
- Support cash handling, stock control, and compliance with health and safety and licensing requirements.
- Take ownership of clubhouse appearance and atmosphere, ensuring it's welcoming and professionally presented at all times.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience in hospitality, tourism, golf, or leisure operations, preferably in a supervisory or operational management role.
- Strong people management and team leadership skills.
- Comfortable working across both strategy and execution, hands-on, can-do attitude is essential.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of revenue drivers in a membership/tourism-based business.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient in basic administration tools (e.g. email, spreadsheets, booking systems).
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and early/late shifts, as required by the season.
Desirable
- Experience in golf club operations or member-based organisations.
- Background in food & beverage service or management.
- Familiarity with online booking and POS systems.
